Warren Cole and River Edge Walk and Cycleways
If you're keen for an easy cycling cruise or walk with lots to see, Warren Cole Walk and Cycleway along the riverside trail is superb. One trail end is by the Whakatāne River bridge on Landing Road; the other is near the Whakatāne Heads. It's fully sealed/paved.

Punakaiki Pancake Rocks
Punakaiki is located near the centre of the Coast Road, rated as one of the most spectacular coastal drives in the world. Take your time en route so you can stop and enjoy some of the walks and coastal views. The Pancake Rocks at Dolomite Point are limestone formations that began forming 30 million years ago when lime-rich fragments of dead marine creatures were deposited on the seabed. These were later overlaid by layers of soft mud and clay. Earthquakes raised them from the seabed to the level you see today.
Kiwi North Heritage Park
Northland's only Kiwi House here at Kiwi North. This Whangārei attraction is set on 25 hectares of rolling farmland, forest and bush, with views that overlook the city. The site features a museum, a nocturnal kiwi house and gift store, and unique Victorian heritage buildings.
