Shotover River Whitewater Rafting

Queenstown
Nov-April. Book online

Raft the iconic Shotover River for a whitewater rapid adventure!

Experience the rugged beauty and unspoiled grandeur of the breathtaking scenery as you conquer this wild and untamed river. Tackle six rapids along the Shotover River, with stretches of calm water to take in the views, go for a swim and soak up its gold mining history. The Shotover River is accessed by either vehicle or by helicopter to the remote rafting launch site in Skippers Canyon forged out by gold miners during the big Queenstown gold rush. The Shotover River is graded 3-5. Grade 5 is the highest grade commercially rafted in the world. This means heaps of excitement and a harder river to navigate. The Shotover River has more rapids compared to the Kawarau River, including a 170m long tunnel to navigate. You need to be a confident swimmer as there is a higher risk of falling out of the raft.
