Whanganui Potters’ Studio

Whanganui
All year round

A safe and friendly environment for the club community to come together to create work and develop relationships with other creatives.

Rob Housley takes the beginner pottery classes on Tuesday evenings, while Jim Farley runs the wheel classes. Classes run during the school terms. They hold Meet the Tutor evenings so you can come along, find out what to expect and register. Or while you are at the Whanganui River Markets on Saturday morning, pop into the studio. There you can Meet the Maker! Pottery club members will be busy working while their work will be displayed for sale.

A series of practical workshops for Rongoā Māori - Traditional Māori Medicine. Workshops are taught in the bush in a supportive and encouraging environment for both Māori and non-Māori participants. All workshops are run over a weekend and are held in the ngahere (forest). The aim is to teach people how to identify the plants used for rongoā, where to find them, and how to collect them and the tikanga (customs) that must be followed.
