Designed and created on Waiheke Island

With strong naturalist backgrounds, Waiheke Ceramics finds inspiration from the beauty of native flora and fauna. Designs are grounded in Danish and Māori heritage. Working with clay appeals to their appreciation of the Japanese aesthetic of Wabi Sabi which celebrates the beauty of imperfection. Enjoy a special group lesson for a minimum of 5 people in a beautiful environment. You will learn the process of pinching, one of the fundamental skills at the basis of ceramic knowledge. The key skills you will learn include understanding clay quality and ability, manipulating and shaping using hands as the tools, 3D conception. This is the first technique to practise and can lead on to great things. Then you will design and decorate a handmade lunch plate using coloured glazes. This will really bring out your creativity, prepare to be inspired! (Waiheke Ceramics has designed and made tableware for some great restaurants in NZ). The pots will be glazed and fired and ready to be picked up or posted in a week. Pinnies available if things get messy! All inclusive price of $85. Bookings essential.
