The Mayfair Arts & Culture Centre

Canterbury, Kaikōura
All year round

So cute!

Situated on Kaikōura’s Esplanade with uninterrupted views of the ocean and stunning mountains, The Mayfair brings quality arts, theatre and cinema experience for their community and visitors. The Mayfair Theatre, designed by W Melville Lawry of Christchurch, was built in 1934. Colin Ford and his wife owned and operated the theatre for many years. The Mayfair Arts and Culture Kaikōura hub reopened its doors to the public in November 2020, after undergoing a major rebuild following the damage caused by the Kaikōura earthquake in 2016. The people behind the scene at The Mayfair are passionate about arts and culture, and want to inspire people to use their creative thinking.
