​You are welcome to join as an athlete, volunteer or coach.

Special Olympics supports athletes with learning disabilities and the volunteers who provide their invaluable support. The Special Olympics Healthy Athletes initiative offers basic health screenings and services to athletes at the National Summer Games which takes place in December. These services are delivered by qualified medical staff in a fun and welcoming way. Referral to specialised practitioners for further assessment and care is made as required.

Rongoā Māori

A series of practical workshops for Rongoā Māori - Traditional Māori Medicine. Workshops are taught in the bush in a supportive and encouraging environment for both Māori and non-Māori participants. All workshops are run over a weekend and are held in the ngahere (forest). The aim is to teach people how to identify the plants used for rongoā, where to find them, and how to collect them and the tikanga (customs) that must be followed.
