Mt Pleasant Pottery

Christchurch
All year round

The Mt Pleasant Pottery Group was established in 1960. Members mostly come from the eastern suburbs but sometimes travel from as far as the Canterbury Plains. Their potters range from the experienced and nationally recognised, through to those just discovering the joys of playing with clay.

All the tutors are experienced potters and artists in their own ceramic specialties. The passionate and talented teaching team would love to welcome you! There are a lot of classes to pick from but they do fill up quickly. Keep in touch with the team to reserve your place and start your pottery journey. Beginners, intermediate and advanced students classes available. Bookings essential.

Occasional

A series of practical workshops for Rongoā Māori - Traditional Māori Medicine. Workshops are taught in the bush in a supportive and encouraging environment for both Māori and non-Māori participants. All workshops are run over a weekend and are held in the ngahere (forest). The aim is to teach people how to identify the plants used for rongoā, where to find them, and how to collect them and the tikanga (customs) that must be followed.
