A wonderful array of events for every age and stage, author talks, sharing memories, D&D gaming, dementia reading groups, writing work shops for teens, adult story time. Relaxed book groups. Dunedin Public Libraries operates six libraries and two bookbus services.

Events for every age and stage. There is always something happening at the libraries, like craft events, adult story time and so much more! Dementia Friendly Reading Groups are a shared reading group for people with memory loss or dementia. Groups use Dovetale Press dementia friendly books and memory kete/boxes to spark conversation and memories. Pride movie night mixers for teens with goody bags, listening parties.

Level access to the building, book trolleys to carry your items while you browse, magnifying unit for visual impairment. You can book one on one assistance with a librarian. You can also access the Books on Prescription programme, which is run by WellSouth Primary Health Network and the libraries of Otago and Southland to increase access to high quality health information.

Parking

Drop off zone. Free parking is available in the City Library basement carpark after 6pm Monday to Saturday and all day on Sunday. Charges apply at other times.

Rongoā Māori

A series of practical workshops for Rongoā Māori - Traditional Māori Medicine. Workshops are taught in the bush in a supportive and encouraging environment for both Māori and non-Māori participants. All workshops are run over a weekend and are held in the ngahere (forest). The aim is to teach people how to identify the plants used for rongoā, where to find them, and how to collect them and the tikanga (customs) that must be followed.
