Ko te mātauranga kāre i tuku, ehara i te mātauranga (Knowledge that isn’t shared isn’t knowledge)
Making things with harakeke (flax) is great fun. Many people say they find it relaxing and therapeutic as well, and the raw harakeke is easily gathered from many places throughout Aotearoa NZ. Weaving in a group is enjoyable and children love giving it a go. Ali’s website has instructions for some simple weaving projects to try, and then, if you’d like to do more, she has written a series of flax weaving books that are available in your local library or you can purchase them from her online shop. Lots of great content here for the beginner to more advanced. The best way to contact Ali is by email as she lives in a rural area with intermittent cell phone reception.
