Abel Tasman Canyons

Motueka, Tasman
Oct-April

Canyoning adventures taking place in three stunning parks: the famous Abel Tasman National Park, the wild and remote Kahurangi National Park and the more accessible Mount Richmond Forest Park.

Canyons are steep, narrow mountain streams enclosed by steep wall and filled with waterfalls and pools. Canyoning is the way to descent these uniquely beautiful canyons by means of walking, swimming, scrambling, jumping, sliding, abseiling and using ziplines. Only by going canyoning can you see and be fully submersed in these stunning places and experience all the fun stuff Mother Nature throws at you.

Due to the challenging terrain is it recommended to go canyoning on guided trips. Lots of different experiences are on offer. Torrent River is the most popular canyoning adventure in the Abel Tasman, simply because it has it all. Jumps, slides, floats, abseils, you name it……Torrent’s got it. All this exciting stuff takes place in a gorgeous granite canyon filled with some of the purest water you can find and wrapped in mind-blowing, unspoiled rain forest. This is a great place to start your canyoning adventures.

Matariki is a time where people, whānau, and communities gather together to remember the year that has passed, to celebrate the present, and to plan for the next year. It is a time to remember our loved ones who are no longer with us, to feast and celebrate with our relatives and friends, and to look towards the future and the hope of a season full of bounty.
