Woodlands is a unique and very beautiful Historic New Zealand Homestead and Garden Estate established in the 1870’s. It sits proudly in the centre of acres of stunning gardens and fertile farm land.

The display of the country’s most significant collection of old camellias, many of which were brought from Britain in the 1870s, is further enhanced with plantings of old fashioned roses. The pathways lead to the lake with its Monet-style bridges and gazebo. The garden features wide vistas across expansive lawns. a cricket oval and a croquet lawn.

Entry to the Gardens is free, however, a gold coin donation is appreciated. Entry to the Homestead is $2

ACCESSIBILITY

General

The Garden is accessible, however the Homestead does have stairs. If you have any mobility concerns/difficulties please contact Woodlands for advice. Wheelchair access is available. The all-weather paths are disability-friendly.

Transport

Woodlands is only a 15 minute drive from central Hamilton and 70 minutes south of Auckland.

Parking

Woodlands and Garden Grove offer safe off street parking.

The NZIFF 2023 programming team attends film festivals around the world to bring audiences in Aotearoa the very best of global cinema, with the Auckland programme featuring 129 full-length films and seven short film collections, with films hailing from 39 countries, including Uganda, Senegal, Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Estonia, Jordan, Iran, Brazil, and of course Aotearoa.
