ACCESSIBILITY

General

The Cable Car entrance and exits are specially designed with wide gates that are suitable for standard prams/ bikes/mobility scooters/wheelchairs. Ramps are also installed at the top boarding platforms at all stations for easy access. Users should access the Cable Car via the top doors. There is a drop-off area just outside the Cable Car Lane and a waiting area at Kelburn. One mobility scooter (donated by the Wellington City Council) is available for hire from the ticket office at Lambton Quay (advance booking required).

Parking

There is no public parking provided at the Cable Car, however you can find parking on Lambton Quay, Wilson Parking Buildings, The Skyline at 1 Upland Road, Kelburn (Cable Car summit).

Transport

Most buses have retractable ramps on board and are able to kneel on request. All trains are leveled with boarding platform for easy access.

A series of practical workshops for Rongoā Māori - Traditional Māori Medicine. Workshops are taught in the bush in a supportive and encouraging environment for both Māori and non-Māori participants. All workshops are run over a weekend and are held in the ngahere (forest). The aim is to teach people how to identify the plants used for rongoā, where to find them, and how to collect them and the tikanga (customs) that must be followed.
