Sharing and growing knowledge

A series of practical workshops (1-4) for rongoa Maori – Traditional Maori Medicine. Workshops are taught in the bush in a supportive and encouraging environment for both Maori and non-Maori participants. Start with rongoa 1 This is the beginning of the journey. It introduces participants to the world of rongoa Maori, and the tikanga involved in learning rongoa. It focuses on getting to know the ngahere (the bush), how to identify the plants and trees that grow there, and the tikanga (traditional practices) that must be followed in harvesting from the ngahere for rongoa. It also puts participants in touch with resources and techniques, both traditional and current, to help them retain what they are learning, and to make use of it in a practical way. Each series is run twice a year – in the autumn and in the spring. You don’t need to do all workshops at the same time, but it’s recommended that you do them in order, as each will build on the knowledge learned in the previous one.
