Mt Pleasant Pottery

Potters whose skills range from those who are experienced and nationally recognised through to those just discovering the joys of playing with clay. New members are always welcome to come and play. Mount Pleasant Pottery offers 3 general pottery classes. These classes are a great way to start your pottery journey. If you're down for multiple terms, you will gain skills in both wheel work and handbuilding. The 3 separate classes run on either a Monday, Wednesday or Thursday evening.

Stolen Bagel Pottery

Beginner’s one-day workshop where you will learn how to throw on the wheel and make a cylinder cup, or make a plate or learn how to handcraft house number brand and how to decorate them with underglaze. Come give it a go for the first time or come and hone your skills. Stolen Bagel can take you on a journey from first timer to a confident intermediate level potter.

They have been working within the arts industry for over 20 years and bring considerable knowledge of design, teaching and ceramic art & technology to Clae. In 2020 they came together to collaborate on a studio that would celebrate all aspects of ceramics in a local and sustainable way. Paint ‘n’ Sip Studio Christchurch

Book a seat, arrive, sip and socialise, relax, paint and party. Everything you need is at the studio, so just bring yourself and get ready to paint & party the night away! Aprons are provided but paint does end up in funny places, especially when you are having such a great time so wear clothing you don't mind getting paint on.

With a gallery of local ceramic artists work available for purchase, and a workshop space that has gained in popularity among aspiring potters, this is a creative’s dream. You don’t need to have existing skills and there is no commitment to a long-term contract of classes. Events like 'Wine and Clay' certainly pique interest.
