Cooking collective courses, information technology and Te Reo

Their free Te Reo course is a great for beginners wishing to develop an introductory understanding of Te Reo Māori by introducing basic phrases, correct Te Reo pronunciation and an introduction to Māori culture. The computer course is also free. Learn at your own pace and speed, working through each module at a pace that bests suits your learning. Each module is allocated 5 weeks, but you can move through at your own pace. The cooking collective courses do have fees but you can learn some amazing practical skills. All ingredients are provided – bring yourself, some friends and laughter and learn to make new and exciting food in the first-rate kitchen facilities of NorthTec’s Apprentice Restaurant!

Rongoā Māori

A series of practical workshops for Rongoā Māori - Traditional Māori Medicine. Workshops are taught in the bush in a supportive and encouraging environment for both Māori and non-Māori participants. All workshops are run over a weekend and are held in the ngahere (forest). The aim is to teach people how to identify the plants used for rongoā, where to find them, and how to collect them and the tikanga (customs) that must be followed.
