ACCESSIBILITY

General

Wheelchair accessible. Wheelchair lifts to access meeting rooms on the mezzanine floor and in the attraction to gain access to the penguin viewing area. Travelling in the Hägglund requires that you are able to board and disembark unassisted.

Transport

Approximately a 15-minute drive from Christchurch central city or a 5-minute walk across the road from the Christchurch Airport terminal.

Parking

There are 3 designated accessible parking spaces available at the entrance.

Rongoā Māori

A series of practical workshops for Rongoā Māori - Traditional Māori Medicine. Workshops are taught in the bush in a supportive and encouraging environment for both Māori and non-Māori participants. All workshops are run over a weekend and are held in the ngahere (forest). The aim is to teach people how to identify the plants used for rongoā, where to find them, and how to collect them and the tikanga (customs) that must be followed.
