Auckland Writers Festival 2023

Auckland
May 2023

Choose from more than 200 public events, gathering together 230 of the world’s best writers and thinkers to celebrate the world of books and ideas!

The festival is back in full force this year, with international guests arriving on our shores! Bernadine Evaristo, Colson Whitehead, and Shehan Karunatilaka are just three of the amazing writers coming in person, while many of our finest local writers such as Catherine Chidgey, Hinemoa Elder, and Brannavan Gnanalingam, will be heading exciting sessions.

The Auckland Writers Festival offers audiences the opportunity to see and hear from the very best writers of contemporary fiction and non-fiction, scientists, economists, poets, journalists, and public intellectuals. Audiences are enriched by innovative thinking, challenged by new ideas, and inspired to discover more about our world.
