Uprising
Designed, built and run by a team of Kiwi climbers and yoga teachers, Uprising is home to a huge bouldering gym, yoga studio and a fitness gym all under one roof. There’s even a café serving their own signature blend of locally roasted coffee, and a pro shop for apparel and gear. Bouldering at Uprising is an indoor adventure sport activity. It’s fitness in disguise, challenging and fun for both muscles and the mind.

Todd Energy Aquatic Centre
Adults and children from around Taranaki can come to the Todd Energy Aquatic Centre and enjoy both the indoor and outdoor swimming pools. Kids can learn how to swim or just have fun on a hot summer’s day in the outdoor pools. There are lots of adventures to be had indoors on the hydroslides and in the wave pool. There is also a sauna, spa and gym at the centre so people of all ages can keep fit and active and enjoy the centre all year round.
Wellington Botanic Gardens Ki Paekākā
At the top of the Wellington Cable Car, and just minutes from the central business district, lies 25 hectares (64 acres) of beauty, peace and tranquillity. Established in 1844, the Wellington Botanic Garden is home to some of the oldest exotic trees in New Zealand.
Wellington Cable Car
The Cable Car is a funicular railway rising 120 metres over a length of 612 metres with the ride taking only five minutes. The line rises at a constant grade of 1 in 5 (20%), through three tunnels and over three bridges. It looks similar to the Hong Kong Peak Tram. Many visitors ride the Cable Car but its use is not simply confined to tourists, as many Kelburn residents and University students travel on the cars on a daily basis.

Whakatāne Library and Exhibition Centre
The Whakatāne Museum houses over 600,000 items in its collections. This includes significant examples of Taonga Māori, a comprehensive collection of archival material from the Whakatāne District and the Bay of Plenty region, and an extensive photographic collection covering the physical and social history of the past century. Visit in person or online as they undertake a huge digitisation project to make more of the collection available online.
